I have a doubt ..when we are defining the parameters during the formfunction definition ..we are also embedding the parameter values..so can we change the value of these parameters at the report run time? and how do we do that.

Hi Vijay.
very useful document. I have a disco report that is initiated by a button on SSHR. Do you know the correct method to open the report viewer in a new window. At the moment it opens in the existing self-service window and the navigation is lost.

Hi Sonali,

Yes, we can pass parameter dynamically.
One way is you can accept the parameters through forms and then pass them in
syntax
workbook=¶meters=~*~*~*

The other way is you can ask the parameters from Just before your discoverer sql is to be.
I'll soon release a doc in this regard.

Hi Rich,

If its Form Button then Yes, (else I'm not sure)....
you can achieve this by
1. Create a Folder(Admin) and Workbook(Desktop) as mentioned in doc.
2. Create a Function which is registered to the Workbook as explained in the doc.
3. Attach the Function with Menu (for desired Responsibility) leave Prompt as Blank.
4. In form create a WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger on Button
call the function using FND_FUNCTION.EXECUTE
FND_FUNCTION.EXECUTE(FUNCTION_NAME => 'Function_name created in step 2',
OPEN_FLAG => 'Y',
SESSION_FLAG =>'Y' );

You can try to change Discoverer invokation function type to "SSWA plsql function that opens a new window (Kiosk Mode)" - WWK.

After that Discoverer Viewer will open in separate window.

Hi Vijay,
Its really a good stuff, After registration when i click on the function name to
invoke the report it transfers to the login page directly. i need this issue should be solved. we have created a report with .dis . where it has to be saved . database or computer.

Its a great document and very helpful. I get some small problem in implementing the similar solution.
When the discoverer report is launched from Oracle Apps. It returns an error saying there is no enough data to be displayed. I hit refresh button under this message then it shows me my Discoverer report and worksheet in it and then I click on worksheet ; it opens and displays the results properly. Is there a way to troubleshoot the misinformed error message.
Below is the error message which I get:
OracleBI Discoverer Viewer was unable to find the necessary data for displaying the results of this event. Please correct any errors and try again.

Authentication Failed.
(Default or specified schema containing EUL tables is inaccessible )

Sorry for the delay reply....

Please check the Name of Workbook should contain Name of the Identifier
you can get the same by Log into Desktop edition
Open the Workbook
File --> Manage Workbook --> Properties

Copy the name of the Identifier name paste it to
form function -->Form Tab--> Paramter

go to File --> Manage Workbook --> Sharing

Share the Workbook for ur required Responsibility and User.

Error regarding opening report in apps

Am new to oracle discoverer reports, am in to developing a simple dis report using Dis Admin and Dis Desktop and moving it to applications. I have done with Admin(Creation of Business area) and Desktop, now i can see a simple report output in my Dis Desktop edition, but i dont know how to assign this report workbook to a module(PO,AP,AR Etc), but i have registered the same report with reporting name as function in application throuhg application developer.
