I am writing this article in a bid to help first timers get a grip on iStore and appreciate some of it components when they start fresh on this module.
This is in no way a comprehenensive guide/ready reckoner.

In this article we would concentrate on the Site Administration Application and in particular features that deal with the Customer Site Look and feel related features. I have chosen to concentrate on the look and feel related areas because this is where the developer usually comes into the picture and perhaps is the first pain point whenever someone starts off learning the iStore application. We would deal with the nuances of the iStore technical pieces in articles that are to come in the future.

It is a bootup document which I believe would be of help. Please read on

Hi Pramod,

I am in the process of trying to setup jdev on the local environment. I am able to compile my jsps locally but i'm not able to run them. I keep getting a class not found exception. I will post that article once i find success.. If you are keen to know what i've doen till now let me know and i can post the stuff that i have done till date.

And yes I will try and post some articles on how to go about customising iStore.. I'll perhaps take some simple example and start.

Arun.

Hi Arun,
In welcome bin all accounts assigned to user (for selected organization) are displayed. By default istore also displays bill to accounts in select list. Is it possible to remove these bill to accounts from the select list on welcome bin?
We can do it from crm admin screen where accounts are assigned to user(by un-checking these accounts). But at our place we can not disable these accounts for user. Is there a way to disable at display.

Hi Arun,
Does istore provide any report which displays how many users are logged in to istore currently. Does istore store user login information in any table.

Pramod

There used to be a Oracle.zip file which had all class files ..but nowadays that zip file is not used / updated by Oracle. And there is lot dependancy in the jsp files.. just copying the ibe*.jsp etc..as available in a old document is not helping...

For past one year for all my developments we will get special support from DBA's or a unix script to move the custom files to $OA_HTML folder..

To avoid a apache bounce, we just name them ibe*1.jsp, ibe*2.jsp etc.. in the developer instances until we get it right...

To run jsp from jdeveloper, you have to have almost the whole installation in your system..with jsp's class files etc...i didn't find a work around for that yet..

you can catch most of the errors while compiling the jsp in jdev... in few tries you can get it right...instead of running the jsp's from your system..
i know it will help us (developers)..u ntil someone finds the way..the is a better alternative..

Hi Arun,
Is it possible to import Shopping Cart from outside into Istore?. Is there any Table/API provided by Oracle to do that.

Hi Arun and Others,

I am able to setup R12 istore in my local Jdev 10g. I am able to run the jsps and could see the Register, login and sites page.
But I face probem with the login page. My local project is able to hit the SSO page of the instance but it is not able to get the cookies and logged in session back. To be specific, even after I login, I still get the requestctx.user IsAnonymous() as true. because of this i am not able to access other sites and repeatedly the same login page appears.
If I replace the SSO login jsp with the normal login (ibeCAcdLogin.j sp), upon hitting the login with the appropriate credentials, I get an exception saying that requestctx is null. I am stuck up here and unable to proceed.

Any help from you guys is very much appreciated.

T hanks,
Venkat

Hi Arun
You mentioned that you would put together articles on how to go about customising iStore.. I'll perhaps take some simple example and start. Is it possible for me to get these from you?

Thanks

Hi Arun
was just re-reading my previous post and realised it could have been misinterpreted as I was going to come up with the examples. What I meant was:
I was referring to your earlier post where you said you
"... would put together articles on how to go about customising iStore.. I'll perhaps take some simple example and start...."
It would be great if you could send me these articles if you have put them together.

Than ks again

Arun & other readers... article is definitely a good start for beginners, just one comment on the reference made to amazon.com, amazon is not on iStore. There is a misconception out in the market that amazon uses istore, I believe its a home grown system. Keep up the good work.
