Introduction
In one of the previous article title Position Synchronization in Oracle HCM Cloud we have seen how to enable position synchronization and what all different benefits it bring along. In this post we would see some of the new features and functionalities which have been added to the application whenever one performs a “CORRECT” or “UPDATE” action on a existing position which has incumbents assigned to the position.
Although this feature is only supposed to be available starting Release 20 B (officially) but if you are on latest patching level in 20A you may get these features too. This particular demonstration for example was performed in Release 20A environment.
So, without further ado let’s get started.
Worked Example
In this example, we would choose a specific position and try to perform a Update Action on the position and check whether it impacts all assignment records where this position was used.
In order to perform this demonstration, we would need to have some pre-requisite steps.
Pre-Requisite
We need to search for a position from (My Client Groups->Workforce Structures->Manage Positions) and check whether there are any incumbents assigned to the position.
From the above screenshot we could see that the position starts on 01-Jan-1951 , has an FTE an headcount of 2, the location associated with the position is “Chicago” and there are two incumbent on this position from 01-Jan-2020.
Now, let’s say we would like to perform a “Update” action on this position such that the location is changed from “Chicago” to “New York”.
Details of this change are as below:
Next, we click on “Review” and we would be able to see the changes made
We could see that the review page not only shows the changes made to the position details but also the assignment records which would be impacted because of this change. We can now submit the transaction.
Verification
Although we have not made any changes to the assignment record but since the position associated with the assignment record has changed, details on assignment records should also be changed (as position synchronization is enabled). We would verify the same here.
Navigation: Person Management-> Search for “Thomas Martin” -> Navigate to Employment Page
Summary
From the above demonstration we can conclude that a part of new features any changes made to a position which has assignment records associated with it percolates down to the individual assignment record and a new entry is created in the Manage Employment details where-in the latest attribute values get reflected,
