Creating an Absence Details Report using OTBI Subject Area in HCM Cloud Release 12

Introduction

For long consultants have been struggling to prepare a consolidated report on Absence Occurrences taken by employees in Oracle HCM Cloud Application. Agreed that BIP Report was an alternative (check a sample example here ) but having a simpler option (which requires less technical knowledge was something much sought after). Thanks to the Oracle Development team and we do have a solution in form of a new Subject Area “Workforce Management – Absence Real Time” in Release 12.

This specific subject area is capable of providing answers to multiple business questions like:

• What are the various Absence Plans, types, and categories in the organization?
• Which Business unit has recorded the largest number of leaves during the year?
• What is the average leave taken by Department/Location?
• Can I get the list of workers who have taken more than N number of absences in the quarter?
• Which workers have taken the more than N number of days leave duration?
• Can I report on the pattern count of absence type during different months of the year?
• What is the count of absences by type and status?

Worked Example

For this example, we would select four columns from the Subject Area “Workforce Management – Absence Real Time” the details are as follows:

We could see that we are trying to identify the Person Number of the individual and the analytic details related with the Absence Plan , Absence Type name along with the Total No of Absences taken till date.

Summary

This was a very simple example of how-to use the new Subject Area to get an insight into Absence Related data stored in the application. It could be utilized effectively to get information about worker availability, duration of year when most employees go on vacation, most number of absence availed by individuals and much more…

One can use the data attribute and create more effective and useful Data Analytics Report.
