This article from Piyush gives a detailed step by step instruction to develop and deploy BI Publisher reports with Barcodes.
Report Writing is one of the important tasks in every Oracle Apps Project. We have different types of reports using different technologies which give output in different format. Producing output using BARCODE font is one of the important report development activity which comes under MSCA. Barcodes can be thought of as a font for information on a Report. Using barcodes as part of any operation has many advantages like High Data Accuracy, Efficient Data Entry, Efficient Tracking and Monitoring. Bar code scanning allows data entry on the correct field in Oracle mobile application (including WMS and MSCA) irrespective of the cursor position on the mobile form.
Basic Requirement before Developing the Barcode Report
BarCode Font needs to be installed on server and on Development Machine
Ttf file needs to reside on server.ttf file indeed is a windows file but for font subsetting purposes, we copy this windows file onto UNIX. The reason is True type fonts are not available in UNIX and so we make use of windows true type fonts. The location of this ttf file is added into REPORTS_PATH environment variable. As REPORTS_PATH is set as an environment variable, executing: echo $REPORTS_PATH should give you the values contained in it. Simply append the directory path of your ttf file in REPORTS_PATH and this would make this ttf file available to the Reports Server.
How to Register the Barcode Font in Oracle Application and Install on Unix server and on development machine?
Step by Step Guideline
