In this article, you will learn everything that you ever wanted to know about Oracle Service Contracts. For those who have read the lease management white paper,typical life cycle of contract remains the same ie you Create,QA check,book a contract,bill thru it’s life & then renew or terminate a contract.Difference in that now we are talking about services instead of lease. With this basic fact in mind let’s take deeper dive & uncover the difference!!!

Oracle Service Contracts provides a complete contract authoring execution solution to manage warranties, extended warranties, usage, subscription services etc from its origination to billing to termination or renewal of contract.With Oracle Service Contracts you can do following for a service only contract or as part of other contracts ie leasing contract.

Ranu....excelle nt document to give anyone (either a novice or refresher for guru) an understanding of Oracle Service Contracts...exc ellent.

1. I was however, looking to see if you addressed how a Warranty can be applied to a product "after" it has been shipped. Generally, the warranty is applied before being shipped in OM, however, there have been occurences where products are shipped without the warranty....how can this be applied after the fact?

2. How can an extended warranty be applied to an item.....say 4 months after the sale of the product?

Thank s

Hi,

anybody know how to deal with Milestone payment in oracle?
e.g my PO like this:
Item Qty Price Amount
AAA 10 1000 10000
BBB 5 200 1000
-------
11000

Payment Schedule
20% before delivery ---> 2200
50% upon delivery ---> 5500
30% 30days after delivery ---> 3300

any module in Oracle can handle such situation??

What's the API to terminate a Service Contract?

We have a standard warranty of 12 months for all the products we ship out to customers. Hence, we created that as a warranty item (12 months) and added in the BOMs for all the finished product. Once item is shipped, the item instance is created in install base. However we are not able to see the record in Service Contract. Requirement is that user should be able to check what is the warranty start and expiry date.

Question s:
1. For above requirement, do we need both the modules - Install base and Service Contracts?
2. What could be the probable reason for the standard warranty contract not appearing in Service Contracts module in above scenario mentioned?
3. Is there any help detailed document on what "Process definition" means in Service Contracts? How to use it?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
