Any organization which is doing a BI implementation will be having Sysadmins and DBAs who would be doing the installation steps. Developers would be responsible from the point of client installs on their work stations.
Moving forward with installation in this article, I will be covering the creation of OBIA schemas in this article.
OBIA RCU:
Before you run the RCU , you need to create a database instance to hold :
- Business Analytics Warehouse schema
- OBIA components repository (For BIACM/FSM)
- ODI Repository for OBIA.
- The most important point to note is the above components are supported only on Database Enterprise Edition only an NOT on Standard edition
- The RCU uses .dmp files to create the required schemas. You must copy the .dmp files for each schema to a directory with global write access on the appropriate database server machines. (RCU writes log files to this directory). The .dmp files are located in BIA_RCU_HOME/rcu/integration/biapps/schema.
- To create schemas with RCU on oracle database you must possess DBA privileges and be logged in as SYS user with SYDBA role selected.
To create the OBIA schema using RCU,
Access the bin directory in BIA_RCU_HOME
Start RCU as follows in UNIX:
./rcu
The following screen shots show the RCU progress. Make sure to follow the OBIA installation guide step by step.
Enter for Create a new prefix: OBIADEV
Select components - check that all components are ticked
Click Next
Choose 'Use same passwords for all schemas' > next
In the next step specify the location of the .dmp files you had copied as mentioned at the start of this article
The next three screen shots are for temporary tablespace creation. Follow them as mentioned in the install guide.
Click on create
Click on Close after viewing the Completion Summary
In the next article I will cover the OBIA installation and fusion middleware patches.
