If a client doesn't have HCM offering configured then what are the basic configurations which are absolutely needed to be able to do regular functioning?

1. Can they setup Employees and Employee data?
2. Can they manage Jobs and functions of an employee?
3. What are the example of Abstract Role in absence of Employee, Line Manager setup data?
4. In absence of Employee setup, how are various Approval Hierarchies maintained? I imagine a Line Manager Hierarchy setup will not be straight forward. But if there is a way then please let me know
5. What are the basic HR setups which are needed for Finance and SCM offerings

I understand that such client can not use any advance features of HCM offering i.e. Hire, Transfer, Retire an employee, Compensation, Benefits etc.
