    Karan,

I was able to download the attachment. I also followed the directions in the document and was able to create a BI report using globalreportsdatamodel and xml schema that was generated from my extract. But when I tried to view the report I am not able to get any output. Do you have any idea why would that be? Also I am confused on how the BI report will know which HCM extract to use to fetch the data when running the report? A;lso I am not sure what the importance of flowinstancename?

    Thanks,
    Saurabh.

    Saurabh,

Have you created the rtf template as mentioned in the Document and uploaded to a BI Publisher Report ?

If you dont have any rtf template in a report, the report will have no output.

Secondly, the flowinstancename is the most important element when you run an extract.

The flowinstancename is the name which you enter as Payroll Flow while running the extract. This flowinstancename acts as a link between the Extract output and the BI Publisher report. So in the BI Publisher Report, you have to enter this name in the flowInstanceName parameter of the report you created and click apply. So based on the output which is extracted from the system at this instance, you will get it in the specified format of the rtf template you created in your report.

Without the flowInstanceName you will always get a blank output in your report.

Please note down the name you give in the Payroll Flow field while you run the extract and enter it in the flowInstanceName parameter of your Report & click Apply. You will get the output.

Please try the above steps and revert in case of any further doubts.

Thanks a lot Karan.. That worked..That flowinstancename was the missing link. By the way is it absolutely necessary to create a report template to get the output? Can I just get a simple xml file without using rtf template? Also under Data Exchange there are couple of navigation items " Submit Extracts" and " View Extract results". I used submit extract to run my extracts but was not able to see any output. I did see the ouput when I ran the BI report using the same payroll flow name but was wondering why was I not able to see if the extract ran to success at the least?

    Hi Saurabh,

The creation of a BI Publisher Report is a mandatory step for viewing an extract result, as it gives you a platform on the data representation you want for your extract.

Yes, there is a way where you don't have to navigate to the BI Publisher but can view your result in the Fusion System itself, however you have to create a BI Publisher report though.

To achieve this, you can add an Extract Delivery Option in your Extract and provide the path to your BI Publisher Report and provide the name of the template & specify an Output format say 'excel'.

This above procedure will give you the output as an attachment when you move to the last step and run your extract successfully.

Please try this method and let me know of any concerns.
