Objective : In the previous article we learned How to create Project in Fusion Application as we already had existing user. In this article we will learn how to create Users in OIM and how to sync users and roles.

Creating and Managing users in Fusion:

Creating and managing any user who needs to sign in to Oracle fusion applications (excluding the Super user created during the installation).

1. Security administration users

2. Implementation users

3. Runtime application end users

4. Partners

5. Suppliers application

The users have no access to functions and data.

To enable users to access functions and data, we must provide role to them.

Users can have multiple roles.

All roles provided to user can contribute to user’s access and depth to Fusion application.

Implementation users:

Functions of Implementation users are:

Administer oracle fusion applications user and security.

Manages Implementation projects for Oracle fusion Application offering’s.

Set up basic enterprise structures needed to implement oracle fusion applications offerings.

Types of Users:

1. Super user

2. IT Security Manager user

3. Application Implementation project manager user

4. Application Implementation Consultant user

Initial Implementation Users with roles:

Application Implementation Consultant job role grants very broad access.

We can refine access to particular data dimensions for initial implementation users by using create data role for implementation users task.

For e.g. To restrict implementation task to Oracle fusion Financials applications, create a data role based on the financial application administrator role.

Application Users:

Once the first implementation project begins and the enterprise structure is set up,

1. Create regular application users for implementing and transacting the Oracle fusion applications offerings.

2. Use standard user and security management processes such as Manage User, Manage person or hire an employee task to create and manage additional users.

3. Do not use create implementation users task after your enterprise structure has been set up.

4. User Id’s and passwords are created automatically when you create their person records in oracle fusion HCM (for e.g. when we hire an employee).

Creating user in Fusion:

You will get this page once you get in Setup and maintenance as shown in the previous article.

1. Now, just type %create%user% in Name and then click on search.

2. We will get the search results below. Click on Go to task icon adjacent to Create implementation users to access Oracle Identity manager(OIM).

Now, once we click on Go to task of Create Implementation user, we will get to OIM page

This page is self service page. For creating user, we have access Administration.

Click on Administration .

We can create users as well as search existing users in Administration .

Click on Create User .

Now, Fill in the necessary information while creating the user.

First name: varun

Last name: kapila

User login: varun

Password: any password of your choice

Confirm password:  “

Start date: Optional (only if you want to set )

End date: “

Organization:  Click on the search sign next to the blank column of Organization.

When you click on search sign next to Organization, you will get a blank space followed by Right arrow sign.

Click on Right arrow sign.

We will get the organization names in the application.

Select Xellerate Users and click on Add.

You can also create your own organization and can create a user in the respective organization.

Xellerate user is predefined organization so we select that.

Select the type of user you want from the drop down.

If you want the user to have more than one user type the select Others .

For e.g. you can select Employee as user type if we are creating the user for an employee.

Also you can put in the display name of the user that you wish to see every time you login.

Click on Save (Top right corner) to create the user.

Assigning roles to user:

Once the user is created, you can assign roles to the user by click on Assign option.

You can type the name of the responsibility that you want in display name tab and then click on search.

For e.g. We have searched for IT related roles in the above screenshot. We will get all the IT related roles below search results. Select IT security manager and then click on Add.

IT security manager role will be then added to the user you have created i.e varun.

Similarly, we can assign any roles to the user we want.

All the roles assigned to the user can be seen under Roles, with description.

How to sync Users and Roles:

In Setup and maintenance, we will get overview page where we can search sync%user synchronize the users and roles.

All the roles assigned to a particular user can be assigned to all the users in the organization.

Once we get Run user and Roles synchronization Process under search result, click on Go to Task adjacent to it

Once you click on Go to task, you will get a new page.

Name of the Schedule process is Retrieve Latest LDAP changes. (This name is by default)

Just click on Submit.

Details of Scheduled process can be seen by typing the name of the scheduled process and then click on search.

We will get all the scheduled process with details in search result.
