This tutorial deals with Fusion Payroll, and how it functions. In this part, we will discuss about Payroll Processes, Payroll Process Results, and Person Process Results.

Payroll Processes

Payroll Processes are executed through Payroll Flows. Specific processes are available at the specific work areas. Depending on the work area’s functionality, it would have the specific payroll processes related to it. For example, the Payroll Calculation Work Area would have the payroll processes that are responsible for calculating the payroll.

Some of the specific payroll processes pertaining to the different work areas are as follows:

• Payroll Calculation - Calculate Payroll, Roll Back Process, etc.

• Payment Distribution - Calculate Prepayments, Generate Check, etc.

• Accounting - Processes related to costing.

• Regulatory Reports - Processes related to report generation for regulatory purposes.

• Checklists - All the processes are available. It is something like a master work area.

It can be accessed by Navigator -> Payroll -> Payroll Flows -> Submit a Process or Report .

The Calculate Payroll Process

The Calculate Payroll process is the first payroll process to be executed from the Payroll Calculation work area.

It is navigated to by the following: Navigator -> Payroll Calculation -> Payroll Flows -> Submit a Process or Report .

Then, select the Legislative Data Group and then select Calculate Payroll Flow Pattern.

The Calculate Prepayments Process

Once the Calculate Payroll process has been executed, The Calculate Prepayments process has to be executed. This process picks a particular payroll run depending upon the given parameters. It looks into the particular person’s payment details, including the payment methods. It then divides the payment amount into different sections according to the payment method (check, cash, or EFT). This is required so that appropriate distribution takes place as per the personal payment methods set for that particular person.

Since this process deals with the distribution of payment, it is present in the Payment Distribution work area.

It is navigated to by the following: Navigator -> Payment Distribution -> Payroll Flows -> Submit a Process or Report .

Then, select the Legislative Data Group and then select Calculate Prepayments Flow Pattern.

The Generate Check Payments Process

After the prepayments are calculated, depending on the payment method set up for the employee, the appropriate payment process has to be run. To generate checks, the Generate Check Payments process is used. Once the details are entered for the Generate Check Payments flow pattern, the process would then distribute the payments to all employees for whom check payment is set as a payment method. Once this is done, it would set the payroll calculations as paid, thus ending the payroll cycle.

It is navigated to by the following: Navigator -> Payment Distribution -> Payroll Flows -> Submit a Process or Report .

Then, select the Legislative Data Group and then select Generate Check Payments Flow Pattern.

Similarly, there are respective processes for making EFT ( Make EFT Payments) and cash payments, as well as payments specific to certain legislations.

The Roll Back Process

The Roll Back process is an important process that is used in the case of any errors being present in the payroll execution. If you are not satisfied with a particular payroll process execution, or if you have detected any errors present in a process that has been executed, the roll back process can be used.

The roll back process can be run on any of the payroll processes like Payroll Calculation, Calculate Prepayments, Generate Check Payments, Generate EFT Payments, etc.

However, you cannot roll back a Calculate Payroll process if a Calculate Prepayments process has already been run. If a roll back is necessary in this case, both the Calculate Payroll process and the Calculate Prepayments process have to be rolled back. For each roll back done, a reason for the same has to be specified.

It is navigated to by the following: Navigator -> Payroll Calculation -> Payroll Flows -> Submit a Process or Report .

Then, select the Legislative Data Group and then select Roll Back Process Flow Pattern.

The Checklists Work Area

In the Checklists work area, all of the payroll processes are accessible. It is like a master work area where you can also create and manage your profile.

In case a manual intervention is present in a flow, the payroll manager or user has to visit the Checklists work area to intervene, as the work area contains details of the manual intervention for a flow execution. This way, the user can verify the intervention details and give the go ahead for the flow to continue with its process.

Payroll and Person Process Results

Once you have executed your payroll run, you can view results in two fashions: payroll specific and person specific. Each has its own UI.

Payroll Process Results

The Payroll Process Results contains details of the process execution from the Payroll perspective.

When you select a Payroll Name and search, you can view a list of payroll processes that have been run on this particular payroll.

It is navigated to by the following: Navigator -> Payroll Work Area -> Process Results -> View Payroll Process Results .

Person Process Results

The Person Process Results contains details of the process execution from the person’s perspective.

When you search for a person’s name in a Legislative Data Group, it will provide you with a list of payroll processes that have been run for this particular person. If you click on a process, you will be shown the Person Process Results page. It will be similar to a statement of earnings, where you can view the various elements that have been picked for calculation in that particular process’s run.

It is navigated to by the following: Navigator -> Payroll Work Area -> Process Results -> View Person Process Results .
