Oracle Access Manager – Installation Planning

If you are reading this article, probably you understand what is Oracle Access Manager; how it fits in the Oracle Identity Management Stack and the value it brings in an enterprise.

We will start with the installation planning by keeping the below topology in mind:

We will create a single domain (oam_domain) with AdminServer and oam_server1 (managed server).

Oracle Access Manager required schema will be stored in Database.

 

Let us now put together what all you would need to setup Oracle Access Manager for your enterprise.

·         Database to hold Oracle Access Manager Schema

·         RCU to create Oracle Access Manager Schema

·         Java (jdk or JRockit) to run application server

·         Weblogic server (an application server) to host Oracle Access Manager application

·         Oracle Access Manager Software, which will act as Policy Decision Point

·         Webgate, which will act as Policy Enforcement Point

 

1. Download below software’s from Oracle Website:

 

IDM

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/oid-11g-161194.html

Identity and Access Management (11.1.1.7.0)

 

 

Access Manager

 

Adaptive Access Manager

 

Identity Manager

 

Identity Navigator

 

Oracle Security Token Service

 

Oracle Entitlements Server

Webgate (Oracle Access Manager OHS11g WebGates (11.1.1.7.0))

 

 

2. Extract the downloaded software’s to any temporary location eg: /tmp/Installables

 

3. Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 with AL32UTF8 character should be installed and running. For Oracle Database installation, please refer Oracle Documentation.

 

4. You need to have access to database user with SYSDBA privileges.

 

5. Admin rights on the machine on which the application servers will be installed would be needed.

 

Once you have all the above Prerequisites in place, we will start with the installation and configuration of Oracle Access Manager in the next article.
