This article is a continuation of our previous article on Folders in OA Framework.
In this article, you will see a quick video demo of how you can create UserLevel personalizations on Result regions, in a sharable manner.
The learn about non-shared/user level folders visit this link

Before we jump onto the audio-video tutorial, lets do some Q&A

Question:- Do I need to set any profile options so that I can create sharable user level personalizations?
Answer:- Yes. You need to enable personalizations via profile option “Personalize Self%Service%Def%”

Question:- Can multiple users share this personalization?
Answer:- Yes. Infact, if you do this personalization at site level, then all the users having access to this page
will see your custom folders. In case you wish to restrict the access to these changes to a set of users, then,
do this personalization at either responsibility or function or organization level.

Question:- Can this Administrator create multiple personalizations against the same region?
Answer:- Indeed this is possible. In this case, end users can pick one of the existing user-personalizations via a dropdown list.
Examples-
Invoices more than USD 50K
Invoices from GE Corp [biggest supplier]
Pending invoices on 7Day Payment Terms
Hence, the business benefit is time saving, whereby the user does not have to re-enter their favourite query criteria each time.

Question:- How many Shared Folders can I create against a region?
Answer:- There is no such limit, you can create as many meaningful folders as you wish.

Please see this video that demonstrates how you can define SHARED Folders using personalization in OA Framework.
VIDEO CAN BE ACCESSED FROM THIS LINK

Also, you will notice that if both “user level” and “admin-level-user personalization” exists against a region, then
all of these will be visible to the end user.

Hi Imran

The parameters passed by concurrent manager to a host program are
$0 - Shellscript name
$1 - Oracle username/passwo rd
$2 - User_id
$3 - Oracle Applications username
$4 - Concurrent request id

Please see metalink note Note:29086.1 for details, as you would also need to create symbolic link to fndcpesr

Thank s,

Hi Khan

Within SQL, you should try using
fnd_file.put_l ine(fnd_file.LO G, 'your message here');

I haven't tried that, hence not sure how apps will behave when you try this.

Ideally, you should be using Java Concurrent Program in scenarios that require file operations combined with SQL-PL/SQL Operations.
Usi ng Java Concurrent Program will ensure that your apps security context is retained in your JDBC SQL Connection object

Thanks,
Anil

Hi Anil,

I have a shell script which is registered as a concurrent program and in shell script I am executing a procedure ( which is not a concurrent program ) and here i want to capture all the messages of a procedure and display in the log file of a shell script.

My procedure is not registered as a concurrent program.

Shell script is registered as a concurrent program and in the shell script I am executing a procedure ( once connected to DB ). Now w'll get files LOG & OUT for the shell script b'coz its registered as a concurrent program. Here, I want to display the messages of a procedure in the LOG file of a shell script. Neither DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT _LINE nor fnd_file.put_li ne(fnd_file.log ,'any message') will works in this case. Is there any method where we can capture the messages of a procedure & display in the log file of a shell script.

Appreciate your help.

Thx,
Kha n.
