In this article we will enter manual journal in Primary Ledger in Oracle General Accounting dashboard in Fusion Application and will see corresponding journal getting created automatically in Secondary Ledger.  Click on the below link to understand complete details on how to create Primary to Secondary Ledger mapping in Fusion Applications.

Primary to Secondary Ledger Mapping In Fusion Financials

Pre-requisite for Posting Transaction in Secondary Ledger in Oracle Fusion Applications-

  1. Define Primary Ledger
  2. Define Secondary Ledger
  3. Create Chart of Account mapping between these 2 COAs
  4. Complete Primary to Secondary Ledger mapping
  5. Define Currency Rate and conversion rate and upload rate through Spreadsheet.
  6. Create COA mapping between Target COA and Source COA.
  7. Map Primary Ledger to Secondary Ledger after creating COA Mapping

Why do we need Ledger Mapping?

If the primary and secondary ledgers use different charts of accounts, the chart of accounts mapping is required to instruct the system how to propagate journals from the main transactional chart of accounts to the target chart of accounts. If the primary and secondary ledgers use different accounting calendars, the accounting date is used to determine the corresponding non-adjusting period in the secondary ledger. The date mapping table also provides the correlation between dates and non-adjusting periods for each accounting calendar.

Chart of Account mapping option helps to correlate source chart of account to target chart of account for creating journal entries. One can also define account rules as a part of the chart of account mapping which further helps to map complete account combinations in multiple chart of accounts. If the primary ledger and secondary ledger use different ledger currencies, currency conversion rules are required to instruct the system on how to convert the transactions, journals, or balances from the source representation to the secondary ledger.

Entering Manual Journal in Primary Ledger-

Navigate to General Accounting Dashboard and select your Primary Ledger to enter Manual Journal. Manual Journal (Test 44 in this case, is posted with Status as Complete.

Now switch to Secondary Ledger to see Automatic creation of Manual Journal in Secondary Ledger. In Secondary Ledger, you will see the corresponding Manual Journal in secondary ledger by clicking on Data Access Set.

The same Journal Test-44 is created automatically in Secondary Ledger.
